HyperCalm was my first company; a web design shop when Flash was a thing. I've won a Directors Guild of America award for a short film, run the world's largest scriptwriting contest, and was the lead designer and project manager at a company that specialized in beautiful work for nonprofits. Based in Brooklyn, New York, magazines have always been in Alison Engstrom’s blood. Her love for fashion and design prompted her to pursue a degree in fashion from FIT and a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Charleston in Art History. Her studies also took her to Paris, where she studied at the Sorbonne and the American University. Years later, her career twisted and turned in the beauty industry, but her passion never faded. It wasn’t until a diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in 2014 that made her realize that life can bestow upon you unexpected new realities that you can either let define you or you can defy them. She decided to take a chance on her dream and start ROSE & IVY in October 2014, as a digital magazine, which eventually translated to print. The goal is simple, to inspire through beautiful content with design that is uncluttered. She is a self-taught photographer and stylist. Besides being a passionate advocate for print media, she to inspire other women who may encounter any type of obstacles, whether it be a disease or a major setback in life, to keep moving forward to live their best life and pursue their dreams.

HEY, I’M BELINA. I have an obsession with color, composition, nature, patterns, and anything creative. Design has always been a part of my life. I have been lucky to enjoy the different facets of it… as a creator, as a graphic designer, and as an entrepreneur. And interior design has always been special and fascinating to me. I love making things. I got my crafty vein from my mom, who also comes from a family of crafters who sew, crocheted, etc. In 2001, after graduating from high school, I moved from my native Venezuela to Miami, FL and started my career in Advertising and Graphic Design at the University of Miami, and graduated in 2005. Since then, I have worked in a variety of projects, mainly as a graphic designer. After a divorce and having to start a new life, move to a new place and make a home out of that as a single-and-work-from-home mom, I started HeyBelina in early 2018 to share my style and inspire women to transform their homes into happy places. Because everybody deserves to love where they live, and work.

Hi I’m Cat from thecreativeintrovert.com. One thing I’ve learned from my days as a freelance web designer and my days as a pet portrait artist; is that self knowledge: knowing our strengths, our blindspots our preferences and patterns: is key to creating a life you love to live. This is what I help my fellow creative introverts do. I work with them one-to-one or invite them to join my online community the League of Creative Introverts, to learn about themselves, and learn how to shape their lives in a way that suits their unique needs and desires. I also share what I've learned on my podcast, The Creative Introvert. I’m currently researching the links between personality types and creativity and how we can use our self-knowledge to make the most of our creative style and strengths.

In 2016, I finally got enough courage to leave my corporate job in the pharmaceutical industry to pursue a life that I've been dreaming about filled with creativity, happiness, travel, and entrepreneurship. I started freelancing social media marketing while building an eCommerce business focused on vegan apparel. Everything I have built has been self-taught through online research and being a practitioner. I think it is my duty to tell my story, my learnings, and my development process to others and to let people know that you do not need training to push go on the life that you've been dreaming of. You just need to start. Entrepreneurship, health, wellness, and travel are all part of my happiness equation. Walking down a path of the unknown has been incredibly fulfilling and incredibly challenging. It's something that I'm super passionate about, which is why I'm interested in sharing all of the lessons I've learned about building a business online, challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone, and constantly evolving to design the life of my dreams.

After spending years in consumer insights helping Fortune 500 companies understand the values and behaviors of Millennials, Andrea realized it wasn’t just 30-something’s who had a deep desire to find connection and meaning in a digitally-driven world. It’s all of us. So, she set out to find a brand that was open and excited to innovate around the relationship between a brand and its customers — to create more meaning and connection for all.
For the past two years, Andrea has been working alongside LA-based fashion designer, Laurie Feltheimer, to transform her 17-year-old fashion line, previously inspired by celebrity and Hollywood, into a denim brand inspired by fearless, everyday women of all ages (who just so happen to look very good in denim). Denim is a rapidly growing industry today. Women don’t need another pair of jeans -- women need an exceptional pair of jeans, and brand, that can support them in their lives.
