This year's summit will focus on growing communities, marketing and monetizing. What's working and what's not. Plus. There
will be world-class skiing. Plus also. There
will be a little film festival called Sundance.

    Conference Events

In addition to fantastic panels and speakers, we've got all sorts of awesomeness planned. Awesomeness that you can only find in Salt Lake City. In the middle of winter.

Alt Lounge — Featuring the Blurb Meetup/Happy Hour

All day long on Friday, January 22nd, the Alt Lounge will be open. Ready and waiting to help you recharge. You'll find sustenance, caffeine, wifi and printers. Places to sit down and have a chat. Tables and outlets for filling your batteries. It will be the perfect break room when you need a few minutes to absorb the wonders you observed during the previous panel. Extra fun: drop by the Lounge Friday morning to see a live Letterpress Demo by Lifestyle Crafts.

Then. On Friday evening — after the conference Closing Remarks and before you head to the After Parties — Blurb is generously hosting a Happy Hour Meetup in the Alt Lounge space. Food. Drinks. Your new best friends. Plus lots of real-live-super-cool-books that have been made with Blurb software. This might be the last chance you get to chat it up face-to-face with your social media idols. You won't want to miss it.

    Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival (conveniently) coincides with Alt. Nice. Award-worthy films. Celebrity spotting. It would be a shame to be in town and miss out on all the festivites. You can book your tickets to Sundance showings here. Tickets are available for purchase November 17 and go fast. Prices are typically about $25 each.

    Solitude Resort Ski Day

We invite you to experience the "Greatest Snow on Earth" (as declared by Utah license plates everywhere), when the conference moves to the mountains on Saturday. Alt Summit and Solitude Mountain Resort have partnered to bring you a full day of skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, ice skating, cocoa drinking, fireside sitting, or whatever it is you want to do. All at Solitude's beautiful alpine village.

One Solitude lift ticket will be available FREE to all registered conference attendees. Additional lift tickets are available at discounted prices to Solitude, Snowbird and Snow Basin ski resorts.

    Hollywood Opening Social

The Thursday night welcome party is going all Old Hollywood on us. Because Salt Lake City during January is all about film. New remakes and old classics. Bring your fancy shoes and join us at the Grand America Hotel. See vintage movie clips and snack on your favorite movie goodies. (Milk Duds anyone?) Best part: the fabulous Dana Parish will join us for the evening to provide live music as glamorous as the rest of the party.

    Speed Networking

Before the let's-get-it-started opening party on Thursday night, conference attendees are invited to make quick contact with potential site sponsors. Attendees will fill their dance cards with 3-minute appointments from a list of sponsors who want to work with design and lifestyle blogs or connect with social media gurus.

Once you make those awesome connections, you can keep the convo going at the after party.

    Debbie Millman at SLC AIGA

What makes a brand stand out? Is there some magic that turns a simple script logo for a soda into the international graphic icon that is Coca-Cola, or makes us salivate over the latest product from Apple? Debbie Millman, partner at Sterling Brands and President of the AIGA, will make a presentation that takes a deep dive into the influence branding has on our everyday lives, from branding ourselves and the world around us to the role branding plays in the products we buy and the way we live. Note: although this is not an official Alt Summit Event, we know it's going to be fantastic. It's conveniently happening during the summit, and we know many conference goers may be interested in attending.
