Alt Chat Wednesday: Promoting Your Brand

Everyone is a promoter or should be. Whether you are in marketing or not, whether you have a blog or not, you have a product and services you should be talking about. Your product and services? You.

It is easy to think promotion is bragging or on social media the equivalent of shouting. And, we have all seen examples of where self-promotion has gone incredibly wrong. You are probably wondering where the balance is:

  • How much promotion is too much?
  • How do you show what you do and talk about your strengths without coming across like a used car salesperson?
  • How do you get others talking about you positively?

There is an art to effective promotion. Tomorrow August 20 at 9AM PDT/12PM EDT on Twitter we are going to chat about the art of self promotion or public relations. Join us.

Follow along the chat by searching for the #AltChat hashtag on your favorite Twitter client. Participate by answering questions posed by @AltSummit (please follow us) and including the #AltChat hashtag.

Marketing creative, community engagement specialist, technophile, photographer, food and wine enthusiast, and the founder and editor-in-chief of The Road to The Good Life, a lifestyle blog about appreciating and enhancing your life by being grateful for the "haves" instead of lingering on the "wants." There you will find personal stories about my life and family weaved in with real-life, achievable entertaining tips, recipes for hearty home cooked meals, and DIY projects for capturing and sharing memories. I believe the best place to swap stories is over a shared meal, preferably a Thai-meal served family style, and teach an online introduction class to Thai Flavors and host the Family Dinners at The Station supper club in San Francisco.
